Find Adderall near meWhy Adderall is hard to find
Adderall is a Schedule II stimulant, so the DEA caps how much of it can be made each year. The FDA listed it in shortage in October 2022, and since then it's often come down to which pharmacy got a delivery this week.
The generic name is amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Pharmacists know it by both names.
What to ask the pharmacy
- Ask about the exact strength and form. A pharmacy can be out of 20 mg and have plenty of 10 mg. Only your prescriber can change the prescription to use a different strength.
- Ask whether they can take a transfer. Rules for moving a controlled prescription between pharmacies are strict, so sometimes your prescriber has to send a new one instead.
- Generic is usually fine, and it's usually what insurance covers. We tell the pharmacist brand or generic both count.
